New York Boys Public High School State Championships

EAST MEADOW, New York, March 19. NEW Paltz won two of three relays at the New York Boys Public High School State Championships. Logan Peterson, Tyler Scott, Stephen Delarede, and Luke Strothenke surpassed Fairport's 2003 meet record in the 200 medley with a time of 1:35.00.

Thomas Luchsinger (Mount Sinai) set state records in the 200 freestyle (1:37.12) and the 100 butterfly (48.37). Luke Weigner (Pittsford) set the previous 100 butterfly record in 2004 with a time of 48.99.

Jack Wagner (Trinity) set state records in the 200 IM (1:48.84) and the 100 freestyle (44.66). He exceeded David Kahn's (Port Jefferson) 2002 state record by only .11 seconds.

Peterson, Eric Culver, Tyler Scot, and Strothenke teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.36).

Junior Dhruv Tyagi (Fairport) won the diving competition with a score of 515.70. Phillip Truong (Fordham Prep) and Chris Arcara (WN) followed with scores of 481.15 and 466.75 respectively.

Jacob Johnson (Shenendehowa) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.91. He joined Sean Parnett, Shayne Buckley and Troy Nichols for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:08.97).
