New Jersey High School State Championships

SEWELL, New Jersey, March 16. THE New Jersey High School State Championships took place March 5-6 at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology.

Girls Results
Atlantic City's Colleen Callahan doubled with a pair of state records. She posted a 2:02.55 record to win the 200 IM and later swam the top time of 1:03.10 in the 100 breast. Kent Place's Jenna Immormino swept to victory in both the 50 (23.56) and 100 free (51.25), while Cherry Hill East's Marlee Ehrlich won the 200 (1:51.51) and 500 free (4:54.70). Rancocas Valley's Kelsi Worrell set a state record of 55.23 to win the 100 fly. Freehold Boro's Emily O'Neill rounded out the individual event wins with her 100 back triumph in 55.73.

Mount Saint Mary's squad of Katy Comer, Stephanie Ferrell, Carly Whitmer, and Cassie Sosnovich won the 200 medley relay in 1:48.14, while Vineland swimmers Rachel Bernhardt, Annemarie Ruberti, Allison Humphries, and Lauren Carastro clocked 1:37.32 in the 200 free relay for the win. West Morris Mendham took first in the 400 free relay, as Isabelle Cecere, Mackenzie Barry, Maya Scheidl, and Celia Frick teamed up to clock 3:34.39.

Boys Results
Cherry Hill's Joseph Petrone and Chatham's Michael Strand each doubled in individual victories. Petrone took both the 200 (1:40.64) and 500 free (4:34.16), while Strand won the 100 fly (49.55) and 100 back. He clocked 48.63 in the 100 back, setting a new state record. St. Augustine Prep's Jeffrey Flynn took the 50 free (21.29), while Kinnelon's Luke Papendick won the 100 free (45.77). Haddonfield's Will Manion touched the wall first in the 200 IM (1:52.96).

Swimmers from Pingry set four state records, including in all three relays. Nic Fink set the only individual record of the bunch, clocking 55.66 for the win in the 100 breast. Alex Mango, Fink, James Ross, and Jason Ring set a state record of 1:34.36 in the 200 medley relay, and the same foursome posted a record time of 1:25.07 in the 200 free relay. Will LaCosta joined Ross, Mango, and Fink to record a 3:06.68 in the 400 free relay, also a state record.
