February 25, 2009 Texas men about five seconds over their AR in the 800 Free relay. Ricky Berens led off in 1:32.01, second fastest American behind Walters, ahead of Phelps and third all-time behind Simon Burnett and Walters. Michael Klueh and Ryan Verlatti were fine, but Dave Walters was WAY off - 1:34.02 anchoring! He should have been 2 or 3 seconds faster with his 1:31.83 AR in December. Submitted by: SwimDER94
February 25, 2009 Hardy, the drug cheat, is still training?? WHAT THE HELL? If I were Salo I'd keep her as far away from my group as possible Submitted by: JeffyFit
February 25, 2009 Swimder,
I do not believe that Walters is tapered. At the most he probably did a one or two day rest. He already has his A cuts, so why taper twice?
Maybe someone else knows something different? Submitted by: Timeless117
February 25, 2009 I don't consider Hardy a drug cheat - I think it was an accident - one time out of so many tests - remember, she tested NEGATIVE in the 50 Free after the positive test! And remember, Salo also had Kicker Vencill with the SAME THING! Hopefully Hardy will come back in 2010 (or sooner) clean and ready to swim fast. Submitted by: SwimDER94
February 25, 2009 Timeless117, I sure hope Walters isn't tapered! As a politician might say, I want that US Open record back in American hands! (Simon Burnett has it). If Texas is gonna win this at NCAAs, they've got a fight coming from VIRGINIA, who put down a GREAT 6:15 at ACC's. Anyone know why Scott Spann wasn't on the pysch sheet and didn't swim the 200 medley relay tonight? Submitted by: SwimDER94
February 25, 2009 Dave Walters will be fine at NCAA's. He tapered WAY too much at big 12's last yr and i think eddie reese knows they definitely don't need to do that in order to still win not only the big 12 but since dave has all his A cuts, he doesn't really need to taper at all. He has very little muscle mass but enough to were he needs a good 2-3 week taper, but he probably tapered for 2-3 days for the meet, meaning he just dropped down a slight bit in yardage. NCAA's he will do some spectacular things. Submitted by: WUswimmer
