University of Illinois Chicago v. North Dakota

Chicago, Illinois. November 7. THE UIC swimming and diving squads soundly defeated North Dakota, taking the top spots in a multitude of events against the Fighting Sioux.

The men's team defeated UND 179-115 while the women took home their second meet victory 175-125.

New NCAA regulations allowed for a change to the traditional meet format, and with the addition of the 50 back, 50 fly and 50 breast, the Flames outdistanced themselves from the Sioux, claiming the top spot in all but two events.

The Flames opened and closed the meet well, claiming both the men's and women's 200 medley relays as well as the 1000 free events to kick of the evening.

Alex Webster shaved two seconds off his collegiate time with a win in the 1000 free (10:02.24), and Kelly Hashoian remains undefeated in the longer distance events on the season with a pair of wins in the 1000 (10:42.31) and 500 (5:13.59) free.

The night concluded with victories in the 200 free relays, with Brian Anderson closing with a 20.57 split.

Other event winners include Brooke Sawyer (100 fly, 58.87), Andrew Schmitt (100 fly, 51.02), Brenden Dougherty (100 free, 46.71), Clair Martin (100 back, 59.23 and 200 IM, 2:13.59), Andy Peterson (53.24), Sarah Walsh (100 breast, 1:07.87), Zach Van Swol (500 free, 4:40.69), Sonia Peterson (3-meter dive, 240.45) and Evan Dunn (200 IM, 1:55.05).
