The Morning Swim Show: John Naber Relives 1976 Olympics and Compares Men's Team to 2008 Olympic Team -- November 5, 2008
PHOENIX, Arizona, November 5. OLYMPIC legend John Naber highlights Wednesday's edition of The Morning Swim Show.
Host Peter Busch starts the show by reminding viewers to vote for their favorite swimmers in this year's public voting for the Golden Goggle Awards. The bulk of the show is devoted to a conversation with Olympic gold medalist John Naber, who led the charge at the 1976 Olympics, deemed as one of the most successful meets for the USA men's team.
In this interview, Naber talks about some of his former teammates, including Gary Hall Sr., Shirley Babashoff and Brian Goodell. He also talks about Roland Matthes, who had passed the crown of premier backstroker to Naber at the 1976 Games. Naber also does his best to compare the 1976 men's team and the 2008 men's team, saying it's hard to compare given the different circumstances and advantages each team had. Also included in the interview is video footage of Naber's swims in the Olympics.
