USA Swimming Sectionals, Oklahoma City: Bobby Bollier Rolls Again

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma, July 18. BOBBY Bollier is riding the momentum of a strong showing at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Already having doubled last night, Bollier came back with a triple at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Oklahoma City.

He opened the men's 400 free with a meet record, taking down Max Jaben's 3:58.95 set in 2004. Bollier clocked a time of 3:56.30, also shooting down the pool record of 3:59.13 set by Lawrence Prostadt back in 1995. Cameron Sellers finished second in 4:05.08, while Andy Kilkenny took third in 4:06.20.

Bollier then lowered a pair of his standards in the men's 200 fly with a time of 1:59.48. That beat his meet record of 1:59.75 from earlier this year and a 1:59.69 pool record set in 2007. Sean Mathews placed second in 2:05.71, while Eric Bonicelli touched third in 2:07.31.

Bollier capped the title trifecta as the anchor of the Kansas City Blazer's men's 800 free relay. Jayson King, Kevin Webster, Matthew Jones and Bollier won the title in 7:45.29.

Meanwhile, Justine Mueller opened the night with a victory in the women's 400 free when she turned in a 4:23.89. Rebecca Swank (4:24.74) and Shannon Vreeland (4:24.82) pocketed second and third.

Rockwood went 1-3 in the women's 100 breast. Haley Spencer won in 1:12.21, while Amanda Masters took third in 1:12.38. Mueller split the difference with a second-place 1:12.25.

In the men's 100 breast, Chris Novak won in 1:05.20, while Cajun Skinner placed second in 1:05.59. Nate Ladner finished third in 1:05.78.

In another close contest, Samantha Woodward touched out Jamie Marks, 2:17.11 to 2:17.44, in the women's 200 fly. Brittany Potter picked up third in 2:19.66.

Taylor Wohrley followed with a win in the women's 100 back with a 1:03.61. Molly Albrecht recorded a second-place 1:05.37, while Haley Smith grabbed third in 1:06.03.

Chase Grimes then posted a 58.99 to win the men's 100 back. Matthew Maurer touched second in 59.11, while TJ Auner placed third in 59.38.

The 800 free relays completed the night. Aquahawks Anne Liggett, Albrecht, Morgan Flannigan and Emma Reaney held off Rockwood's Lauren Votava, Casey Miller, Amber Green and Cory Miller, 8:37.06 to 8:37.09, for the women's crown.
