DUBROVNIK, Croatia, July 14. THE Croatian Open Championships witnessed plenty of national-record performances from across Europe throughout the meet held in Dubrovnik, and the final day was no different.
Sara Isakovic began the day by downing her Slovenian record in the 200 free. She clocked a time of 1:55.90 to clip a second from her previous top time of 1:56.93 set in April. Nina Rangelova of Bulgaria placed second in 2:01.75, while Anja Trisic took third in 2:04.99.
Isakovic also won the women's 100 fly with a time of 59.45, while Malgorzata Gembicka finished second in 1:01.98 and Zeljana Knezevic took third in 1:02.46.

Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or of Israel then shot down his country's national record in the men's 200 free. He clocked a time of 1:48.76 to beat Max Jaben's time of 1:49.48 set in March. Igor Cerensek placed second in 1:51.94, while Dominik Straga finished third in 1:52.28.
In the women's 50 back, Brazil's Fabiola Molina broke the South American record with a time of 28.32. She shot down her former standard of 28.45 set both in March and in June of this year. Sanja Jovanovic claimed second in 28.54, while Lidija Franic raked in third in 29.73. Gordan Kozulj earned the men's sprint back title in 25.86, just beating Israel's Guy Barnea (25.92) and Marko Strahija (25.94).
Slovenia's Anja Klinar captured the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:15.29, while Kim Daniela Pavlin (2:02.72) and Nikolina Sabo (2:28.13) wrapped up the top three. Brazil's Diogo Yabe also picked up the men's 200 IM title in 2:03.78 with Sasa Impric (2:05.01) and Niksa Roki (2:07.73) taking second and third, respectively.
The women's 200 breaststroke went to Smiljana Marinovic (2:35.74), while Gabrijela Korac (2:40.05) and Margareta Vudric (2:40.84) earned second and third. Brazil's Henrique Barbosa, meanwhile, won the men's 200 breast in 2:13.65. Deniz Nazar (2:18.15) and Deni Gasparin (2:20.62) round out the top three.
Serbia's Milorad Cavic dipped under 52 seconds in the men's 100 fly with a time of 51.96, while Brazil's Gabriel Mangabeira took second in 52.01 and Mario Todorovic placed third in 52.90.
Karla Sitic snagged the women's 800 free title in 9:05.95, while Serbia's Andrea Basaraba placed second in 9:11.55 and Austin Shrone of Seychelles wound up third in 9:16.44. Slovenia's Luka Turk picked up the men's 800 free in 8:14.71, while Ivan Cizmar (8:45.90) and Josip Soldo (8:47.37) touched second and third, respectively.
In relay action, Kozulj, Vanja Rogulj, Impric and Cerensek won the men's 400 medley relay in 3:44.12, while Iva Grivicic, Marinovic, Zeljana Knezevic and Matea Peteh snared the women's 400 medley relay in 4:16.88.

July 14, 2008 I still call her a darkhorse in the event because she has never done anything on a major stage. How old is she? This event is becoming as wide open as it was in 2004 just as it was starting to take shape. Submitted by: SwimDER94
July 14, 2008 Not sure about her exact age (haven't really tried to look too hard for it), but I know off hand that she's starting college at California this fall. Might be an older international starter, or 18. Submitted by: Jason Marsteller
July 15, 2008 She turned 20 this year.Young talented swimmer.Her main aim this year is final at olympic games.Slovenia never had a woman finalist at olympics in swimming.
