Canadian Trials: Julia Wilkinson Wins Again; Video of Entire Night

MONTREAL, Canada, April 4. AFTER a fantastic night last evening that witnessed several national records go down at the Canadian Trials, the fourth night of swimming at the meet witnessed a bit more reserved times.

Julia Wilkinson won her third title of the meet, but fell just short of another national record, when she hit the wall in 2:13.49 in the women's 200 IM. That time came up a whisker shy of the 2:13.44 set by Marianne Limpert in 2000. Erica Morningstar (2:14.13) and Alexa Komarnycky (2:16.86) placed second and third in the event.

Brent Hayden missed his national record in the men's 100 free of 48.43, but still wound up grabbing the victory with a time of 48.91. Joel Greenshields grabbed second in a time of 49.14, while Colin Russell finished third in 49.22.

National-record holder Audrey Lacroix followed with a triumph in the women's 200 fly with a time of 2:08.87. Stephanie Horner (2:11.19) and MacKenzie Downing (2:11.88) completed the top three in the event.

In Paralympic events, Benoit Huot won the men's 100 free in 54.68, while Valerie Grand-Maison touched first in the women's 100 free in 59.98.

A foursome of Ray Betuzzi, Brad Hankewich, David Woodman and Thane Kubik won the 800 free relay with a time of 7:35.92.
