Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Jodie Henry To Miss 2008 Beijing Games

BRISBANE, Australia, February 28. ACCORDING to Australian media reports, including an article in The Sydney Morning Herald, three-time Olympic gold medalist Jodie Henry will announce that she will bypass the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The article states that Henry has been battling a "pelvic complaint" that will eliminate her from competing in the Australian Olympic Trials next month.

"Certainly not retirement, she is very, very certain on that, it is just in regards to the trials," Australian head coach Alan Thompson told The Sydney Morning Herald. "She is just very relieved about finally coming to some sort of resolution on the injury that she has got and the procedures for the treatment. I need her to make a decision on where she wants to go with this. She has to be comfortable with her own decision and I certainly would not want to force her into something that she regrets."

Henry has had an illustrious career thus far. She claimed three gold medals at the 2004 Athens Games with wins in the 100 free and both the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Henry has also won four Commonwealth Games gold medals as well as four World Championship titles (three long course and one short course).
