ASU v. Long Beach State

TEMPE, Arizona, February 25. KATY Lawlor scored three goals and six others scored at least once to help the No. 8 Arizona State University water polo team to a 12-8 defeat of No. 12 Long Beach State Saturday in the UC Irvine Invitational at Corona del Mar High School in Irvine, Calif. The Sun Devils improved to 10-6 on the year with the victory.

ASU led from start to finish, jumping out to a 3-1 lead through one quarter of play before extending its lead to 6-3 at the intermission. From there, both teams scored three in the third to keep the margin at three goals for ASU before the Sun Devils won the fourth quarter, 3-2, for a 12-8 victory.

Lawlor was joined in the scoring column by Lauren Hayes, Bonnie Miles and Nikki Unbehaun, each of which scored a pair of goals in the game. Also scoring for the Sun Devils were Traci Aparicio, Kelly Phelps and Amanda Stepp. Defensively, Caylinn Wallace made 10 saves in the victory.
