The Georgia Bulldogs women have moved into the top spot in the women's poll after defeating the Lady Vols of Tennessee and after one of the biggest upsets of the season: Florida's 165-135 victory over the previously number one-ranked Auburn Tigers. The Indiana Hoosiers moved up the most spots in this poll – from unranked all the way to #19.

The men's poll saw a lot less movement among the top teams. The Texas Longhorns maintained their unanimous top billing, while Arizona moved up to the second spot ahead of Stanford, which dropped to third. In ACC action, the North Carolina Tar Heels (#14) beat the Virginia Cavaliers (#15), 151-149, for the first time since 1998. In the Big East, the Louisville Cardinals (#23) upset the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 169-131, to become ranked for the first time this season. Likewise Harvard, previously unranked this year, jumped to the #22 position.

This year's poll will be published eight times and the champions will be crowned on February 27, 2008. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation bi-weekly throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving championships that will take place in March.

The next poll results will be released on February 15, 2008.
