Swimming World Chooses College Swimmers of the Week

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 24. FRESHMAN Joe Kinderwater of North Carolina and sophomore Jackie Borkowski of West Chester have been named Swimming World's College Swimmers of the Week.

The award is an extension of the National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week (NCSW) honors given out by CollegeSwimming.com across three divisions of NCAA competition.

Kinderwater joined Tennessee's Carly Mathes as the NCSW Division I honorees, while Borkowski and Wingate's Kyle Corcoran took home the Division II accolades. Middlebury's Marika Ross and Johns Hopkins' Matt Fedderly snared the DIII awards.

Kinderwater scored his second straight weekly award when he led North Carolina to its first victory over Virginia in 10 years with a 151-149 triumph. Kinderwater destroyed the school record in the 1000 free by 4.29 seconds with a winning effort of 8:58.09. He also won the 500 free in a B-cut time of 4:26.04.

Borkowski won three events for West Chester as she led the Golden Rams to a pair of dual meet wins over Johns Hopkins and The College of New Jersey in a tri-meet. Borkowski picked up wins in the 100 free (52.91), 200 free (1:54.24) and 100 back (58.91).
