Russia Announces Creation of Anti-Doping Agency

MOSCOW, Russia, January 23. THE anti-doping movement scored another victory as Russia has elected to join the other nations and regions that have independent anti-doping agencies, according to a Reuters report.

Russia will create the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RusADA) along the same lines of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

"All the main work has been done already and early next month RusADA will be officially registered and begin its operations," Vyacheslav Fetisov, a World Anti-Doping Agency founding member, told Reuters. "It'll be a fully independent body that will deal with all doping cases."

According to the report, many top Russian anti-doping officials will be in the States next week to learn from the USADA policies and procedures as well as develop strong inter-agency relationships.
