Ischenko, a former two-time junior world champion, burst onto the elite level of competition in 2005 when she appeared in her first World Championships at the age of 19.

She took home a gold medal in the team event and added a silver medal in the solo. In 2006, Ischenko secured her first major solo title at the FINA World Cup, and also earned gold medals in the team and combo events.

The best was yet to come! At this year's World Championships, Ischenko captured five medals, including four gold and one silver. Needless to say, she is Swimming World Magazine's Synchronized Swimmer of the Year.
