Three New Masters World Records Fall -- November 8, 2007

COLUMBIA, South Carolina, November 8. LAST weekend, a trio of Masters world records fell at the South Carolina Short Course Meter Championships held Nov. 3-4 in Columbia, S.C.

Hugh Wilder took down a pair of 60-64 men's backstroke records. First, he clocked a time of 31.06, shattering the 50-meter back standard of 31.31 set by Robert Smith on Feb. 15, 2004. Meanwhile, Wilder clipped the 100-meter back record, previously held by Richard Burns with a 1:08.85 since Aug. 24, 2003, with a top time off 1:08.50.

Additionally, Chris Weissman crushed the men's 45-49 200-meter breaststroke global standard with a time of 2:29.89. Gregory Oxley had held the record with a 2:31.41 set on March. 29, 2003.

Special thanks to Hugh Wilder for contributing to this report.
