Arizona 1-3A High School Championships

TEMPE, Arizona, November 1. PUSCH Ridge showed flashes of talent for both men and women, but in the end, depth won the Arizona 1-3A state high school title for Phoenix Christian and Valley Christian.

Team Results
Phoenix Christian's women finished the meet strong and ended up winning the state title with 344 points. Phoenix Country Day earned the second-place slot with 309 points while Valley Christian placed third (280).

The Valley Christian men finished the meet out on top, compiling a meet-high 348 points. Sedona Red Rock ended the meet in second place (316) while Phoenix Christian took third (278.5).

Women's Individual Results
Erin Bleyl of Pusch Ridge out-swam the field in each of her individual events, hitting the touchpad first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.15) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.47).

Pusch Ridge's other superstar, Hope Peterson, outlasted Kelsey Roggensack of Phoenix Christian in the 100 butterfly, pounding the touchpad first in 58.57. Peterson also won the 500 freestyle in 5:10.66, gaining ground on the field with each passing 50.

Riley Smith from Phoenix Christian built up an incredible lead in the first 100 of her 200 IM and continued on to win the event by a 15-second margin in 2:16.56. Smith also took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.13).

Phoenix Christian's foursome of Cayman Martin, Smith, Roggensack and Brooke Bellah took the 200 medley relay in a 1:57.27 time. The same four girls combined forces in the 400 freestyle relay, this time in the order of Roggensack, Martin, Smith and Bellah, to win in a 3:46.90 time.

Phoenix Country Day provided each of the four divers in the diving competition. Nicole Swinford won the diving event with a 281.85 score while teammates Mercedes Cain (278.15) and Natalie Swinford (251.15) placed second and third.

Men's Individual Results
Dylan Jones of Pusch Ridge tallied wins in the two sprint events, winning the 50 freestyle in 22.80 and the 100 freestyle in 51.72.

Evan Decker from Sedona Red Rock bested his competition in both the 200 (1:54.20) and 500 (5:12.25) freestyle events.

Valley Christian posted the top time in both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. The 200 medley relay grouping of Rob Komadina, Zachary Windel, Andrew Graham and Andrew Wolfe used a superior front half en route to winning in a 1:48.44 time. Komadina held off Nathan Jones of Desert Christian in the anchor leg of the 400 freestyle relay as the Valley Christian 400 freestyle relay quartet of Michael Constabile, Wolfe, Windel and Komadina eked out a first-place finish in 3:39.20.

Canyon State put up the top two spots in the diving competition by means of Nicholas Singleton (232.45) and Tyler Mobley (200.80). Garrett Robinson of Phoenix Christian claimed the third-place spot with a 186.90 score.
