Whitney Myers Named NCAA Woman of the Year -- October 28, 2007

WALNUT CREEK, California, October 28. WHITNEY Myers has been named the 2006-07 NCAA Woman of the Year after an incredible season at the University of Arizona. She won the overall award out of a set of 128 student-athlete nominations.

A native of Oxford, Ohio, Myers is a 14-time record-holder at Arizona, earning her the 2006 Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year award. She was the 2007 NCAA Champion in the 200 IM (1:54.89), and tallied a total of six first-team All-American honors at the championships. Myers, most recently named the Phoenix Women's Sports Association 2006-07 Female University Student-Athlete of the Year, holds four of the top spots on Arizona's all-time top performances list.

Myers has excelled in the classroom as well, earning First Team All-Academic All-American and All-Pac-10 honors for four straight years (2004-07). She was also named an Arizona Academic Champion in 2006 and 2007.

In addition to her athletic and academic accolades, Myers has been involved with the Pac-10's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving as the co-Vice Chair, as well as holding the title of co-President of Arizona's Student-Athlete Advisory Board. She also spends numerous hours volunteering her time as a reader at local elementary schools, organizing swim meets and working with low-income families.

Special thanks to the Pacific 10 for contributing to this report.
