Chinese Divers Continue to Roll in FINA Diving World Series, This Time at Mexico City Stop -- September 10, 2007

MEXICO CITY, Mexico, September 10. OVER the weekend in Mexico City, the Chinese continued to own the sport with a gold-medal sweep during the second stop of the FINA Diving World Series.

In the men's events, Kai Qin (509.30) and Luxin Zhou (551.10) won the three-meter and 10-meter individual competitions, respectively. Meanwhile, Kai and Feng Wang took the three-meter synchro crown with 452.49 points, while Yue Lin and Liang Huo snagged the 10-meter synchro event with 474.72 points.

Other individual medal winners for the men included China's Chong He (493.85) and Canada's Alexandre Despatie (482.75) in the three-meter, China's Yue (548.10) and Cuba's Josa Guerra Oliva in the 10-meter.

In synchro events, Canada's team of Despatie and Arturo Miranda (409.68) and Cuba's Jorge Betancourt and Erick Fornaris (400.29) rounded out the top three in the three-meter, while Cuba's Oliva and Fornaris (427.02) and Russia's Gleb Galperin and Dmitry Dobroskok (424.98) took second and third in the 10-meter.

For the women, Jinjing Guo (372.90) and Ruolin Chen (481.75) won the three-meter and 10-meter individual events for China, while Minxia Wu and Jingjing (333.60) and Xin Wang and Ruolin (364.56) captured the three-meter and 10-meter synchro events.

Individually, Russia's Yuliya Pakhalina (362.50) and the United States' Nancilea Foster (323.90) earned hardware in the three-meter, while China's Xin (346.70) and Mexico's Paola Espinoza (345.35) went 2-3 in the 10-meter competition.

Australia's Sharleen Stratton and Briony Cole (303.90) and Russia's Anastasia Pozdyakova and Pakhalina (297.24) placed second and third in the three-meter synchro, while Canada's Emilie Heymans and Marie-Eve Marleau (352.68) and Germany's Annett Gamm and Nora Subschinski (306.21) took second and third in the 10-meter synchro.
