French Record Goes Down in 50 Breaststroke

LYON, France, February 24. AT the Coup de France meet in Lyon, Anne Sophie Le Paranthoen set a French record in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.68. That swim bettered the former mark of 32.25, set in 2002 by Delphine Leprest. Meanwhile, Laure Manaudou claimed wins in the 50 backstroke (29.80), 800 free (8:35.99) and 1,500 free (16:42.18. At next month's World Championships, Manaudou could swim as many as seven individual events – 200, 400, 800, 1,500 freestyle, 50 and 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

In other action, Nicolas Rostoucher won the 800 and 1,500 freestyles in 8:02.01 and 15:31.14, respectively, and Alain Bernard won the 50 free in 22.34. The women's 50 free went to Malia Metella in 25.77 and Ukrainian Sergiy Breus won the 50 fly in 24.60.
