Georgia Diving Invite Continues Through Day Two

ATHENS, Georgia, January 4. GEORGIA's Genya Gouzeev placed seventh on the 3-meter springboard on Thursday at the Georgia Diving Invitational And Shootout at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Gouzeev totaled 295.05 points in Thursday's competition. Georgia teammate Webb Worthington finished 10th with a score of 282.50. Auburn's Steven Segerlin won the event at 348.10.

In the women's 1-meter event, Georgia's Emily Hunter placed 11th with a score of 215.00. Tennessee's Lauren Leroy took the top position with 279.60 points. The Lady Bulldogs' Natalie Thomas (211.35) and Lexie Bryant (201.25) were 17th and 20th in the prelims and did not advance to the finals.

"Having both guys and Emily make the finals was good," Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. "We didn't perform as well in the finals as I would have liked. The format is the same as the Zone B Championship, so they need to be able to do the second list better. But it's still early and we'll turn it around."
