NCSA Junior Nationals Come to a Close -- March 26, 2006

ORLANDO, Florida, March 25. IT'S done, and what a meet it was. The last night of the NCSA Junior Nationals was nothing short of what we have been seeing all week: Fast swimming from up-and-coming stars of the future continued to shine this evening.

Tommy Wyher from Tampa Bay Aquatics proved his worth when he won yet another title, this time in the 50 back, taking the sprint dorsal in a record effort of 23.07.

In the 1,650 free, the girls from Arizona Desert Fox continued to shine as Alexandra Clarke and Joni Zimmerman went one-two with respective times of 16:22.45 and 16:26.31. It was Clarke's third individual title. William Dove continued his reign in the distance events for the men when he won the 1,650 in 15:22.29.

Melanie Roberts and Julianne Smith from Raleigh went one-two in the 200 IM with their 2:01.42 and 2:01.96 swims. Roberts can't complain as she goes home a multiple event champion as well. Brian Wilson from the Jersey Gators won the men's event in 1:50.13.

In the 400 medley relay, the girls from Curl-Burke went out with a bang winning the event and setting a new meet record with a mark of 3:44.83. Mei Christensen, Ellyn Baumgardner, Suzanne Schwee and Elizabeth Kemp all went home champions. The team from Nova of Virginia won the boys event with a 3:23.82.
