Jackets Sprint Past Savannah College in Swimming and Diving

ATLANTA, Ga. January, 7. SENIOR Brian Huff and Ashley Kracke led the Georgia Tech men's and women's swimming and diving teams to a sweep over Savannah College of Art and Design, 102.72 (men) and 114-70 (women), on Saturday afternoon in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.

Huff finished first in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.73 and swam a leg of the 400 medley relay that finished first with a time of 4:04.98.

Kracke had three wins for Tech in the 200 backstroke, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay. Kracke clocked a time of 2:07.14 in the 200 back, led off the medley relay with a split time of 1:00.96 (100 back) and swam a leg of the 400 free relay team.

Sophomore Elizabeth Stowe tallied a pair of individual wins for the Yellow Jackets. Stowe posted a time of 1:55.28 in the women's 200 free and swam a time of 5:05.72 in the women's 500 free.

Junior Ryan Bishop, senior Jason Howard and redshirt freshman Chris Ewald all tallied a pair of wins for Tech. Bishop finished first in the 200 individual medley (1:57.06), Howard won the 100 free (48.11) and Ewald won the 200 butterfly (1:56.27), while all three swam a leg of the 400 medley relay.

Junior Natanya Harper posted a pair of victories for the Yellow Jackets in the 50 free and 400 medley relay. Harper clocked a time of 24.75 in the 50 free and anchored the relay team with a split of 55.95 (100 free).

Senior Liz Foster registered a pair of wins for Tech. Foster swam a time of 2:11.39 in the 200 IM and led off the 400 free relay team with a 100 free split time of 54.54.

Freshman Caroline Jones clocked a personal-best time of 10:26.99 in the women's 1000 free to finish in first place for the Jackets.

Seniors Jacob Wilson, Sam Morgan and junior Ofer Finkler had first-place finishes for the men. Wilson touched the wall in 2:00.23 in the 200 back, Morgan finished with a time of 9:32.92 in the 1000 free and Finkler posted a time of 1:44.42 in the 200 free.

Freshmen Meghan Martinez and Mari McLeod also posted first-place finishes for the women. Martinez clocked a time of 2:07.24 in the 200 fly and McLeod posted a time of 52.97 in the 100 free.

Rounding out first-place finishes for the Jackets was junior Alex Williams, sophomore Katie McGraw and freshman Noah Copeland. Williams finished the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.83, McGraw clocked a time of 2:33.85 in the women's 200 breast and Copeland swam a time of 4:44.76 in the men’s 500 free.

The Yellow Jackets will take a week off before traveling to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson on Jan. 21. The combined dual meet is slated for a 1 p.m.
