Ellis Named MPSF Men's Water Polo Player Of The Week -- September 25, 1999

Stanford's freshman goalkeeper, Nick Ellis, has been named MPSF water polo Player of the Week after a stellar performance in the net during the Cardinal's Southern California Tournament championship run.

Also named to the SoCal All-Tournament first team, Ellis contributed 44 saves in tournament victories over Long Beach State, UC San Diego, UCLA and USC, including 12 saves in Stanford's come-from-behind 11-10 double overtime win over the defending NCAA champion and No. 1 ranked USC.

Ellis has 54 saves in five games this year for a 10.8 saves per game average, while allowing only 5.8 goals per game.
