Vanderbilt Picks Up Verbal Commitment From Lauren Thomas

NEW COMMIT: USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Lauren Thomas of Mason, Ohio has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Vanderbilt University beginning in the 2018-2019 season. As a junior at Mason High School, Thomas finaled in both the 200 IM (2:05.57) and the 100 back (57.03) at the OHSAA Division I Championships.

Thomas does her club swimming with the Mason Manta Rays, and she has demonstrated impressive progress over a wide range of SCY events over the past two years.

  • 100 Back: 56.14 (was 58.03 in 2015-2016)
  • 200 Back 2:02.96 (was 2:08.52)
  • 100 Breast 1:05.65 (was 1:07.68)
  • 200 IM 2:04.23 (was 2:07.21)
  • 400 IM 4:27.87 (was 4:50.84)

Although her current best times would not have been in scoring range at the 2017 SEC Championships, Thomas will have with another year of training prior to joining the Commodores in Nashville.

Manta Ray teammates Hannah Foster and Allison Bloebaum will also head off to college programs next fall.
