The Flanders Swimming Cup 2024 gets under way on Friday with Olympic champions Tom Dean and Freya Anderson among the headliners in Antwerp.

The meet runs from Friday 19 through to Sunday 21 January at the Olympic Swimming Centre Wezenberg Antwerp and features swimmers from Britain, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland and Canada.

Dean will contest the 100 and 200 free – with teammate Jacob Whittle among the field in both races – as well as the 200IM with the pair also set to head to the 2024 worlds in Doha next month before the British trials for Paris 2024 at the start of April.

Anderson takes on the 100 and 200 free while fly specialist Jacob Peters and Kieran Bird (400 free) are among the British contingent, all of them based in Bath.

Ellen Walshe of Ireland has a busy schedule that includes both IMs, the 50 and 100 fly plus 100 back with Niamh Coyne, Shane Ryan and Tom Fannon among her Swim Ireland teammates in Antwerp.

Lucas Matzerath – double finalist at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka – contests the 50 and 100m breaststroke while Adela Piskorska, winner of two World University Games titles last year, has the fastest entry times across the 50/100/200 back.
