Chinese Spring Championships: Qin Haiyang, Zhang Yufei Turn in Record Swims
Fast swims continued from the Chinese Spring Championships on Friday.
There were five events in finals and two of them were won with record-breaking swims.
Qin Haiyang broke the Asian record with 26.63 in the prelims of the 50 breaststroke. He went a 26.77 in the final to win the gold medal. Sun Jiajun took the silver in 26.80 and Yan Zibei won the bronze in 27.05.
In the women’s 50 butterfly, Zhang Yufei broke the Chinese national record to win the gold medal in 25.32. Yu Titing took the silver (25.91) and Zhang Yifan won the bronze (26.65). Wang Yichin withdrew from the race.
In the women’s 800 free, Li Bingjie dominated the field to win the gold medal in 8:23.42, nearly eight seconds ahead of the field. Mao Yihan won the silver in 8:31.48 and Gao Weizhong took the bronze in 8:31.62.
In the men’s 200 butterfly, Chen Juner won the gold with a 1:54.58, followed by Niu Guangsheng (1:55.05) and Zhang Zixian (2:01.27).
The men’s 400 free was led by Pan Zhanle, who turned in a time of 3:47.22, a second ahead of the rest of the field. Zhang Ziyang took the silver with a 3:48.19, followed by bronze medal winner Xu Yizhou in 3:51.34.
In the men’s 200 backstroke, Wang Gukailai was the lone swimmer to break 2 minutes, and won the gold in 1:59.26. Tao Guannan took the silver in 2:00.90 and Jiang Chenglin won the bronze in 2:01.17.
