Women’s 200 Fly

Cammile Adams of SwimMAC surged from behind to overtake Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell in the 200 fly during heat seven of prelims. Adams posted a final time of 2:09.59 to earn the first place seed, while Worrell turned in a time of 2:10.71 to return as second.

Hannah Saiz of Schroeder YMCA Swim Team rounds out the top three with a 2:10.87. Trojan Swim Club’s Haley Anderson will return as the fourth place seed with a 2:!2.92.

Cal’s Noemie Thomas posted a time of 2:13.11, good for a fifth place seed in tonight’s A final. North Baltimore’s Becca Mann returns as a close sixth with a prelims time of 2:13.17.

Iowa Flyer’s Ruby Martin will return as the seventh place seed with a 2:13.72, while Cal’s Katie McLaughlin squeezes into the A final with a 2:13.91.

Men’s 200 Fly

North Baltimore teammates Chase Kalisz and Michael Phelps battled for the top seed in prelims of the 200 fly, but it was Kalisz who got his hand to the wall first. Kalisz stopped the clock at 1:59.86 just under the 2-minute mark, while Phelps delivered a final time of 2:00.40.

Corey Okubo finished third overall in prelims with a time of 2:01.46.

SwimMAC’s Tyler Clary will return as fourth with a narrow lead over Mark Darragh of University of Missouri. Clary turned in a time of 2:01.62, while Darragh is seeded with a 2:01.65.

Dakota Hodgson of Nashville Aquatic Club turned in a time of 2:01.79 to finish sixth overall in prelims.

Grant Shoults of Mission Viejo Nadadores (2:02.26) and Michael Flach (2:02.51) return as the seventh and eighth place seeds for tonight’s finals.

Women’s 50 Free

Etiene Medeiros of SESI grabbed the first place seed with a sizzling 24.73, also lowering the pool record from it’s previous 25.04. Simone Manuel, swimming unattached, finished second overall in prelims with a time of 24.85. Medeiros and Manuel were the only two athletes to swim under the 25-second mark.

Abbey Weitzeil of CANY returns tonight as the third place seed with a 25.12, while Ivy Martin, swimming unattached, posted a 25.30 for the fourth place seed.

Not long after a tight race in prelims of the 200 fly, Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell delivered a 25.31 for the fifth place seed.

Cal’s Farida Osman finished sixth overall in prelims with a 25.48, while Ford Aquatics’ Margo Geer took seventh with a 25.52.

Amanda Kendall of MAKO rounds out the top eight in the A final with a 25.53 seed time.

Men’s 50 Free

Nathan Adrian turned in a sizzling 22.39 to top the list of qualifiers for tonight’s A final. Santo Condorelli put up a good fight, posting a time of 22.44 from the same heat.

Ford Aquatics’ Brad Tandy rounds out the top three with a time of 22.66.

Marcelo Chierighini, swimming unattached, Geoff Cheah Club Wolverine, and Elvis Burrows of Trinity Prep Aquatics return with strikingly similar seed times for tonight’s final. Chierighini has a narrow lead at the fourth place seed with a 22.74, while Cheah and Burrows will return as fifth and sixth with a 22.76.

George Bovell, swimming unattached, delivered a time of 22.81 for the seventh place seed, while Joao De Lucca of Cardinal Aquatics will return as eighth with a 22.83.

Women’s 100 Back

Kylie Masse of UTS leads the qualifiers returning tonight for the 100 back with a time of 1:00.49. Missy Franklin of Colorado Stars returns as a close second with a 1:00.63, just over a second off her 2015 best of 59.40 from the World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

OAK’s Dominique Bouchard delivers a time of 1:01.07 to round out the top three qualifiers for the A final. Kirsty Coventry of SwimMAC sits at a close fourth with a time of 1:01.14.

Cal’s Amy Bilquist and Rachel Bootsma return as the fifth and sixth place seeds respectively, finishing .01 seconds apart in prelims. Bilquist has a slim lead with a 1:01.56 over Bootsma’s 1:01.57.

Stanford’s Maya DiRado grabbed the seventh place seed with a time of 1:01.64, while Cal’s Kathleen Baker rounds out the top eight qualifiers with a time of 1:01.81.

Men’s 100 Back

David Plummer dashed to a sizzling time of 52.83 to lead the returning qualifiers in tonight’s 100 back. Plummer’s time lowers the pool record from its former 52.92 set by Nick Thoman in 2008.

Grigory Tarasevich of Louisville turned in the second fastest time this morning, stopping the clock at a quick 54.33. SwimMAC’s Ryan Lochte joins the top three with a time of 55.02.

Michael Andrew finished just behind Lochte with a time of 55.44. Club Wolverine’s Guy Barnes delivered a close 55.46 for fifth overall in prelims. Teammate Bobby Hurley kept it close with a 55.48 for sixth in tonight’s A final.

Arkady Vyatchanin, representing New York Athletic Club, will return as seventh with a time of 55.60, while Aaron Greene of Louisville rounds out the top eight qualifiers with a 56.06.

Women’s 200 Breast

Kierra Smith, swimming unattached, delivered a sizzling 2:25.73 to solidify her as the top seed in the women’s 200 breast coming back for tonight’s A final. Cal’s Marina Garcia Urzainqui turned in a quick 2:27.68 for the second place seed.

Louisville’s Andee Cottrell finished a close third overall in prelims with a time of 2:29.22. Martha McCabe of Toronto Swim Club returns as fourth in the event with a time of 2:29.56, making her the last athlete under the 2:30-mark.

Melanie Margalis, last night’s winner in the 100 breast, posted a time of 2:30.32 for the fifth place seed, while Breeja Larson, swimming unattached, delivered a close 2:30.39 for the sixth place seed.

Minnesota Aquatics’ Haley Spencer (2:30.89) and Aggie Swim Club’s Sarah Henry (2:32.05) return as the seventh and eighth place seeds respectively.

Men’s 200 Breast

Louisville’s Carlos Claverie turned in a swift 2:12.02 this morning to return as the top qualifier in the men’s 200 breaststroke.

Nicholas Fink of Athens Bulldog Swim Club and North Baltimore’s Chase Kalisz will join him in the center of the pool for finals after battling to the finish in heat seven of prelims. Fink managed to keep his lead and finish ahead with a 2:14.87 over Kalisz’s 2:14.90.

Cardinal Aquatics’ Thomas Dahlia and Limmat Sharks Zurich’s Yannick Kaeser finished with strikingly close times. Dahlia turned in a time of 2:14.92 for the fourth place seed, while Kaeser stopped the clock at 2:14.95 for fifth.

Cody Miller of Badger Swim Club returns as the sixth place seed with a qualifying time of 2:15.10, while sixth goes to BJ Johnson, swimming unattached, and his time of 2:15.18.

Nick Schafer, swimming unattached, rounds out the top eight qualifiers with a 2:16.26.

Women’s 400 Free

Katie Ledecky of Nation’s Capital continued to show her prowess in the distance events by lowering the women’s 400 free pool record to a 4:03.05 in prelims. Ledecky’s time replaces Allison Schmitt’s 2011 pool record of 4:07.78; look for Ledecky to challenge her time again in tonight’s finals.

Leah Smith, swimming unattached, returns tonight as the second place seed in the event with a 4:06.82. Mission Viejo’s Stephanie Peacock rounds out the top three qualifiers with a time of 4:09.16.

North Baltimore teammates Becca Mann and Cierra Runge grabbed the fourth and fifth place seeds respectively. Mann turned in a final time of 4:09.73 from heat five, while Runge posted a 4:11.53 from heat four.

Haley Anderson of Trojan Swim Club grabbed sixth overall in prelims with a time of 4:12.23, while North Baltimore’s Allison Schmitt finished seventh overall with a 4:13.10.

Lindsay Vrooman of Badger Swim Club rounds out the top eight qualifiers with a 4:13.14.

Men’s 400 Free

Conor Dwyer of Trojan Swim Club continued yesterday’s success in prelims of the 400 free this morning. Dwyer posted a time of 3:52.52 to secure the top spot in tonight’s A final.

Marcelo Acosta of Azura Florida Aquatic came from behind in heat five to overtake Club Wolverine’s Connor Jaeger for the second place seed. Acosta stopped the clock at 3:54.84 over Jaeger’s 3:55.65.

Giovanny Lima of SESI finished fourth overall in prelims with a time of 3:55.91. Mission Viejo’s Grant Shoults turned in a final time of 3:56.66 to grab fifth in tonight’s A final.

Louisville’s Trevor Carroll posted a time of 3:57.96 to earn himself the sixth place seed, while Wisconsin Aquatics’ Michael Weiss (3:58.17) and Gator Swim Club Nicholas Sweetser (3:58.90) return with close times for seventh and eighth.

“Sizzling” and “swift”? Can’t we use some other non-alliterative adjectives?
