Your options were Tyler Clary in the 200 backstroke out touching Ryosuke Irie from Japan, Nic Fink in the 200 breaststroke coming second to Japan but in his first major international competition, Connor Jaeger’s 1500 freestyle barely beating Ryan Cochrane or Michael Phelps’ first major individual international victory post retirement in the 100 butterfly. Results are in and this might be our closest poll yet! Voters chose Michael Phelps’ 100 butterfly at Pan Pacs for the Golden Goggle Race of the Year with 33% of the votes. Connor Jaeger’s 1500 came in second with 28% and Tyler Clary and Nic Fink tied for third with 19% of the votes. That was far from a sweep but Phelps should win the award in the Swimming World voter’s opinion. This week, we want to know who you think deserves the Golden Goggle Perseverance Award. Your options are Kevin Cordes, Missy Franklin, Open Water Swimmers Haley Anderson and Andrew Gemmell, Michael Phelps or Tom Shields. Please weigh in and vote at SwimmingWorld.com. This time next week we will bring you the results.
