Jenna Laukkanen Breaks 100 Breast Record on Day Three of Finnish Swimming Championships

Jenna Laukkanen stole the show on day three of the Finnish Swimming Nationals. In the women’s 100-meter breaststroke Laukkanen touched with a time of 1:08.55 to break her own Finnish record of 1:08.59 that she set in July of 2013. Silja Känsäkoski finished second with a 1:09.73, while Carita Luukkanen posted a 1:11.20 to claim third.

Janne Markannen won the men’s 50-meter back semi-finals with a 26.75. Mir Vasko grabbed second with a 27.01, while Christoffer Fredrikson was third with a 27.36.

Hanna-Maria Seppälä snagged first in the women’s 100-meter freestyle finals with a time of 56.22. Roosa Mört finished second with a 56.93. Eviliina Kallio was third with a 57.44.

Tuomas Pokkinen turned in a 24.55 for first in the men’s 50-meter fly semis barely out-touching Niko Mäkelä’s second-place finish of 24.56. Ari-Pekka Liukkonen was third with a 24.74.

Vilma Ruotsalainen won the women’s 200-meter back with a 2:17.81. Lotta Upanne was second with a 2:18.70. Mimosa Jallow took third with a 2:19.91.

Matti Mattsson posted a 2:14.04 to win the men’s 200-meter breast with Miikka Ruohoniemi finishing with a 2:19.51 for second. Lassi Ohtonen was third with a 2:20.98.

Fanny Teijonsalo claimed the win in the women’s 50-meter fly with a 27.15. Noora Laukkanen took second with a 27.61, while Tessa Nurminen finished third with a 27.62.

Eetu Piiroinen led the men’s 400-meter freestyle with a swift 3:55.44. Aleksi Eskelinen finished second with a time of 4:04.14, while Eetu Soini rounded out the top three with a finishing time of 4:08.08.

Ari-Pekka Liukkonen snagged first in the men’s 50-meter freestyle with a time of 22.33. Anton Herrala finished second with a 23.02 and Andrei Tuomola was third with a 23.10.

Laura Lajunen posted a winning time of 4:17.98 in the women’s 400-meter freestyle, just half a second off of the Finnish record set by Eva Lehtonen in 2009. Aino Otava grabbed second with a 4:19.63, while Vaula Vekkeli rounded out the top three with a 4:29.56.

Sami Juopperi dashed to the win in the men’s 200-meter individual medley with a finishing time of 2:06.09. He was followed to the wall by Kalle Pyykkönen who touched with a 2:07.95. Jere Laukkanen was third with a 2:08.19.
