IRVINE, California, August 1. DURING the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay heats at the USA Swimming Junior Nationals, the Indiana University Swim Team took down its second straight relay meet record as well as the 17-18, 15-18 national age group marks in the event.

Splits: 7:28.28
Ian Finnerty: 1:53.15
Max Irwin: 1:51.49
Brandon Colonis: 1:55.25
Blake Pieroni: 1:48.39

IUST finished the swim with a 7:28.28, taking out the 7:30.87 set by Dynamo Swim Club in 2013 with Jay Litherland, Gunnar Bentz, Kevin Litherland and Mick Litherland.  That swim stood as the meet record, and both the 17-18 and 15-18 national age group marks.

Splits: 7:30.87
Jay Litherland: 1:53.21
Gunnar Bentz: 1:50.47
Kevin Litherland: 1:52.98
Mick Litherland: 1:54.21

IUST clearly has Pieroni’s amazing anchor leg to thank for its new record as well as a pretty strong second leg from Max Irwin.
