“Let’s Give It Some!”

With Coach Bill Furniss at the helm, the culture of British Swimming is changing from its athletes striving to be not just the best in the nation, but the best in the world. Leading the surge is the fearsome British breaststroke contingent.

Adam Peaty and Ross Murdoch are two of the young stars that have emerged in the new wave of British swimming, with both specializing in breaststroke. Peaty, Swimming World’s 2015 Male World Swimmer of the Year, turned in a striking 57.92 in the 100-M breaststroke at last April’s British Nationals to earn himself a World Record and become the first athlete under the 58 second mark in the event. He later went on to win gold in the same event at the 2015 FINA World Championships to become the first Brit to win the event since 1975. Despite battling glandular fever a year ago, Murdoch also enjoyed success at the World Championships surging to third in the 100 breast with a 59.09 from the outside lane.
