GREENSBORO – Alyssa Marsh and Dean Farris each earned double wins in the 50 free and 100 back, while three sectional records fell in tonight’s finals session as the third day of competition at the Greensboro Sectionals meet wrapped up at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.

Sixteen-year-old Grace Oglesby of Cardinal Aquatics got the night off to an exciting start with a huge swim in the women’s 200 fly final. Oglesby chopped six seconds off her prelim time of 2:02.54 to win in 1:56.32, about two seconds in front of top qualifier Caitlin Casazza of SwimMAC Carolina (1:58.28). North Carolina Aquatic Club’s Madison Homovich picked up another top three finish with a 1:59.23 for third.

In the men’s 200 fly, North Carolina Aquatic Club’s William Macmillan lowered the sectional record with a winning time of 1:45.59. Kurt Cady had set the previous record of 1:47.50 more than 10 years ago, in 2003. Macmillan’s teammate, Thomas Bilden, touched second in 1:47.62, nearly clearing the old record as well. Nicolas Albiero of Cardinal Aquatics rounded out the top three in 1:48.48.

After setting a sectional record in prelims of the women’s 50 free with a 22.88, SwimMAC Carolina’s Alyssa Marsh took the record even lower in finals with a 22.76. Teammate Nora McCullagh out-touched Enfinity Aquatic Club’s Andrea Hillen for second, 23.30 to 23.31.

Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club’s Dean Farris captured the men’s 50 free title with a 20.44, a hair ahead of New Wave Swim Team’s Oliver Clayton-Luce, who came in at 20.48. Connor Long of SwimMAC Carolina rounded out the top three with a 20.81.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Lisa Fissneider, winner of the 100 breast last night, made it a sweep of the breast events with a swift 2:09.32 in the 200 tonight. That lowered Melissa Klein’s sectional record of 2:10.29 from 2002 from the record books and was more than four seconds ahead of Savannah Swim Team’s Elizabeth Roberts (2:14.87). Triangle Aquatic’s Julia Poole swam a 2:15.88 to place third.

Louisville’s Brennen Berger also swept the men’s breaststroke events, adding a win in the 200 breast (1:58.86) to his victory in the 100 yesterday. Lanier Aquatics’ Colin Monaghan (2:02.32) and North Carolina Aquatic Club’s Noah Cairns (2:03.31) followed in second and third.

Three SwimMAC Carolina ladies swam under 55 seconds in the women’s 100 back final, led by Alyssa Marsh, who claimed her second title of the night with a 54.80. Alexis Souther, who set a new sectional record of 54.45 in prelims, couldn’t quite match that time in finals and finished second in 54.83. Rebecca Postoll took third in 54.95.

Dean Farris of Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club earned his second win of the night in the men’s 100 back final, clocking a time of 49.00 to edge Cardinal Aquatics’ Nicolas Albeiro (49.29). Connor Long of SwimMAC Carolina posted a 49.54 to secure third.

North Carolina Aquatic Club’s Madison Homovich dominated the 500 free final, leading from start to finish and building a six second lead with a final time of 4:46.93. Triangle Aquatic’s Ana Pozder dropped five seconds from prelims to take second in 4:53.38, with teammate Julia Poole in third at 4:55.25.

SwimMAC Carolina leads the team standings through three days of racing with 693 points. North Carolina Aquatic Club is second with 434 points, followed by Triangle Aquatics Club with 256 points.
