Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky Dominate Day 1 Photo Gallery

The two major storylines of day one at the Arena Pro Swim Series Mesa were Michael Phelps’ return from a six-month suspension and whether Katie Ledecky would break her world record in the 1500 free.

Both Phelps and Ledecky participated in press conferences before Ledecky took to the water to win the 1500 free with the fifth-fastest time ever.

Phelps, meanwhile, enjoyed some time getting acclimated to the pool along with teammate and best friend Allison Schmitt.

Swimming World managed to get some great photos of the three stars on the first day of competition.
