The Horizon League on Friday announced that it will shift its league championships back from February to April due to concerns over COVID-19.

The Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships were to take place Feb. 17-20. They will not be split between swimming and diving, with the divers competing April 5-6 and swimming from April 8-10. The location remains the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.

From the release:

Guided by the principle of safety, the championships were developed in consultation with League membership and are aligned with League-wide safety protocols, overseen by the Horizon League Board of Directors.

The NCAA Division I men’s and women’s championships will take place on successive weekends in late March at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina. The women will compete March 17-20, while the men will go March 24-27. The Horizon League did not announce on Friday any additional qualifying opportunities for individuals to get to NCAAs. The championship meet last year supplied 28 NCAA B cuts among the swimming competition but no automatic qualifying times.

Oakland, which hosted the meet last year, is the reigning men’s and women’s champion. The Horizon League comprises seven men’s and women’s programs.
