Sue Chen Moving From Rockville-Montgomery to Machine Aquatics

VIENNA, Virginia, March 18. MACHINE Aquatics is excited to announce Sue Chen has joined Machine coaching staff. Mrs. Chen brings more than twenty years of experience coaching swimmers across all age groups on the national stage.

“Sue Chen brings a new level of expertise to our coaching staff,” said Dan Jacobs, co-owner of Machine Aquatics. “Her experience in developing young swimmers into nationally ranked athletes will be an asset to our swimmers and coaches. We are thrilled to have her join our staff.”

Chen was a member of the US National coaching staff for the Youth National Team in Vancouver, NCSA All-American team in Dublin, Ireland, and the World Youth Games in Lima Peru. She will also be part of the Women's Leadership Program under USA Swimming. Throughout her career, she has developed swimmers into Olympic Trial finalist, US National Qualifiers, Junior National qualifiers, Sectionals, and age group champions. She has coached more than 300 US National Top 16 rankings, including many number 1 rankings. She is the coach on record for Jack Conger, the current National Age Group record holder in the 17-18 100 back (short course yards and long course meters) and Independent High School national record holder in the 500 free and 100 free.

Besides coaching club swimmers, Chen is co-owner of the iSwim Clinic, LLC which teaches kids proper stroke mechanics through video analysis. She credits her success to her three boys and her incredible husband of 26 years for their support throughout her career.

“It was a natural progression in my professional career to join Machine,” said Chen. “Our philosophies of using swimming to teach the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and the lifelong values of goal setting and discipline for success were completely in sync. I am looking forward to being a part of Machine for many years to come.”
