Olympic swimmer Sheila Taormina, now a \u00a0triathlete, is on the verge of doing something virtually unknown in sport\u2014winning a\u00a0gold medal in two consecutive Olympics in two completely different sports.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Forever Young<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By Michael J. Stott. Age isn&#8217;t a barrier to thirteen 30- somethings and a 40 -something as they prepare for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. These athletes comprise the largest\u00a0group of U.S. swimmers over 30 ever to set their sights in making Olympic Trials. Their prospects range from a virtual lock to a six-time Trials veteran to a 44 -year -old grandmother.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Really to Serve\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through its Coaches Committee, United States Masters Swimming offers a variety of resources to assist both the Masters coach and the Masters swimmer in their development. For the coach, the emphasis is on education, assistance programs and recognition. For the swimmers, a variety of camps, clinics and educational materials is available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><strong>Team Spotlight:\u00a0New England Masters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By Bob Seltzer.
