LARAMIE, Wyo, USA, August 30. SUPPORT for Dave Denniston will be coming from the University of Wyoming, which has scheduled a 24-hour swimming relay to raise money to offset the costs associated with Denniston\u2019s rehabilitation from a sledding accident. A former standout at Auburn University, Denniston was paralyzed from the waist down in February after colliding with a tree in the Snowy Range Mountains, located west of Laramie.<\/p>\n
As part of the Relay Across America, the Wyoming fundraising effort will feature nonstop swimming for 24 hours. The event will begin Friday at 5 p.m. and Denniston will be present at Corbett Pool, along with his parents. An NCAA champion during his collegiate career, Denniston was a member of the United States squad at the 2003 World Championships.<\/p>\n
Denniston has ties to the University of Wyoming, as his grandfather, R.H. Denniston II, was a zoology professor at the school. Meanwhile, his gradmother, Katherine, was involved in UW\u2019s Faculty Women\u2019s Association.
