ONLY  one event \u2013 the 1500-meter freestyle &#8211; was contested on the fifth and final day of the USMS Long Course National Championships at Mission Viejo, Calif., but it produced two more world records.  Over the five days of the meet, 43 world and 68 USMS records were shattered.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Jim McConica picked up his fifth global mark of the meet for men 55-59.  Once again, the record he erased had been held by Tod Spieker.  The former USC star, swimming for Ventura County Masters, touched in 17:40.10, destroying Spieker\u2019s 18:57.38 from 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Two age groups down, in the men\u2019s 45-49 division, George Tidmarsh hacked more than 20 seconds from the seven year-old world record of 17:31.23 set by Todd Bryan.
