THE showdown that was expected has come to fruition. In the championship final of the women\u2019s 200 butterfly, it\u2019ll be Poland\u2019s Otylia Jedrzejczak vs. Australia\u2019s Jessicah Schipper. Oh, there will be other competitors in the final, but gold and silver should come down to the aforementioned ladies.<\/p>\n<p>The world-record holder and Olympic champion, Jedrzejczak posted the fastest qualifying time for the championship heat, as she won her semifinal race in 2:08.30. Meanwhile, Schipper prevailed in her semifinal with a swim of 2:08.38. Earlier this week, Schipper sped to gold in the 100 butterfly. Obviously, she can handle the distance event, too.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese duo of Yurie Yano and Yuko Nakanishi took the third and fourth positions for the final, thanks to respective times of 2:08.63 and 2:08.90. Italy\u2019s Caterina Giacchetti followed in fifth (2:09.40) and the United States\u2019 Mary DeScenza was sixth with a mark of 2:09.73. The final will also include Australia\u2019s Felicity Galvez (2:10.08) and Germany\u2019s Annika Mehlhorn (2:10.28).
