MONTREAL, Canada, July 26. (MONDAY) night was amazing, two world records and some individual gold for Team USA. Roland Schoeman started off the night by breaking the world record again in the 50 fly going just under 23 seconds. Ian Crocker was second going well under the old record of 23.30.<\/p>\n
The most amazing swim of the night was Jessica Hardy, now the first American woman under 1:07 in the 100 breast. She did not even realize she had broken the record and when she figured it out, the look on her face was priceless. Not only did she break the record, she smashed it, clocking in at 1:06.2. Wow.<\/p>\n
Brendan Hansen also did well, beating out Kosuke Kitajima, the defending Olympic champion (in the 100 breast). Katie Hoff won the 200 I.M. in a new American record and Whitney Myers finished fourth. In the 100 fly, Rachel Komisarz finished fourth and Mary DeScenza fifth.<\/p>\n
We are improving every day and tomorrow should be great too. I am super excited to finally shave these hairy legs and get ready for Wednesday. I’m feeling excited and nervous, but even more excited just to be here and be a part of this group. I think my time to have a good 200 fly is now and I can’t wait.<\/p>\n
A member of the Tucson Ford Swim Club, Emily Mason is representing the United States in the 200-meter butterfly at the World Championships in Montreal. At the 2005 NCAA Championships, the University of Arizona swimmer won the 500-yard freestyle and placed second in the 200 fly and 400 individual medley.
