Finally, we are in Montreal! This morning was my first look at the facility and I think it is beautiful. The pools are in the middle of a perfectly green park. There are trees everywhere, a rollercoaster, and a greenhouse nearby. This morning we just swum out the flight and went back to our hotel for lunch and the very-popular rookie skits.<\/p>\n
All the rookies were separated into groups to present short funnies to the team. My personal favorite was Davis Tarwater’s rendition of Rowdy Gaines presenting awards at the Golden Goggles. There was also a good one in the spirit of Hans and Franz, but it was Jason Lezak and my roommate, Rachel Komisarz played by two rookies.<\/p>\n
I had this afternoon off and took some time to explore downtown with Laura Conway. We took some pictures and went in some stores. We had plans to find the mall, but didn’t until after we had walked all we cared to. Maybe tomorrow, or after I’m done swimming I’ll go back.<\/p>\n
It also rained all afternoon. There was even a little thunder and lightning, hopefully we won’t get too much more. The weather patterns are strange, the morning was bright and sunny, then suddenly cloudy, then after lunch it was sunny again, and eventually it stormed.<\/p>\n
The meet starts Sunday, one more day! Let’s go USA!<\/p>\n
A member of the Tucson Ford Swim Club, Emily Mason is representing the United States in the 200-meter butterfly at the World Championships in Montreal. At the 2005 NCAA Championships, the University of Arizona swimmer won the 500-yard freestyle and placed second in the 200 fly and 400 individual medley.
