Olympic gold medalist Alaxander Popov reported today that he would return to competitive swimming in October. Popov, who was stabbed in the abdomen by a watermelon salesman in Moscow following an argument in August, said he also plans on competing in the Sydney Games in 2000. Popov admitted that it may take him up to six months to become competitive again, but plans to reutrn to Australia next month to train.
