LONDON, June 29. BY the end of next month, Leon Taylor could have a full collection of medals. The British diver, already a podium finisher in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and European Championships, is in search of world-championship hardware. He\u2019ll get his chance next month in Montreal.<\/p>\n
Taylor leads the British squad that will compete in Montreal and is a legitimate threat to earn a medal, thanks to his partnership with Peter Waterfield in the synchronized platform competition. Two years ago, at the World Champs in Barcelona, Taylor and Waterfield managed fourth place in the synchronized platform event. Taylor, however, has been plagued by small setbacks.<\/p>\n
"We've not had the best preparation this season but when Peter and I got together earlier this week we put in the kind of performance that would have put a world championship medal around our necks," Taylor said. \u201cI've recovered from a virus which has held me back over the past couple of weeks and I'm feeling good now. Training together with Peter has been great, and I feel fitter and healthier than I have for a while."<\/p>\n
British Diving will send an 11-person team to Montreal, including the likes of past Olympians Tony Ally and Mark Shipman. Other members of the squad include Claire Blencowe, Tonia Couch, Brooke Graddon, Tandi Indergaard, Hayley Sage, Louise Van Hoof and Ben Swain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
