BUDAPEST, Hungary, June 27. A few weeks backs, Laszlo Cseh used the Mare Nostrum Series to produce a handful of sizzling marks in the individual medley events, including a European record in the 400 distance. Over the weekend, Cseh decided to branch out a bit and absolutely dominated the Hungarian National Championships, held in Budapest.<\/p>\n
Showing stellar versatility, Cseh posted victories in three different disciplines \u2013 I.M., backstroke, butterfly \u2013 and totaled eight triumphs for the four-day competition. When the World Championships are held in Montreal next month, Cseh will be the favorite in the 400 I.M. He\u2019ll also be a major medal contender in the 200 I.M. and 200 backstroke, provided he tackles the distance dorsal.<\/p>\n
Cseh\u2019s finest performance of the weekend arrived in the 200 backstroke, where he was clocked in 1:58.54. That triumph handed the multi-event standout a sweep of the back events, as he had already won the 50 (25.68) and the 100 (55.96). Cseh also swept the butterfly races, winning the 200 distance in 1:59.13. He clocked 54.00 for the 100 and the 50 featured an effort of 24.36.<\/p>\n
Best known for his prowess in the individual medley events, Cseh cruised to a 4:17.83 swim in the 400. He received a solid challenge from Tamas Kerekjarto in the 200 I.M., as Cseh\u2019s first-place time of 2:01.31 was followed by Kerekjarto\u2019s 2:01.61. Kerekjarto was also second in the 400 I.M. and claimed first place in the 200 freestyle (1:51.57). Richard Bodor took top honors in the 50 breast (28.60) and 100 breast (1:01.50).<\/p>\n
For the women, Bea Boulsevicz had the best weekend, thanks to a sweep of the butterfly events. Boulsevicz blazed a 2:09.00 in the 200, ahead of the 2:10.37 of Krisztina Lipcsei. Boulsevicz also won the 50 (27.97) and 100 (59.89). In the individual medley races, Zsuzsanna Jakabos had blazing swims of 4:40.83 in the 400 and added a 200 decision in 2:15.84.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
