After winning the 200 and 400 I.M. events, along with the 200 breaststroke, at the Brazilian National Championships, Pereira dislocated his right kneecap while playing soccer. The injury will keep Pereira out of the final stop on the Mare Nostrum Series, in Monaco, and out of the World Champs. The injury opens up medal possibilities in the I.M. disciplines.<\/p>\n
Pereira enjoyed a sterling year in 2004, capped by a title in the 200 I.M. at the World Short Course Championships in Indianapolis, where he also grabbed a bronze medal in the 100 I.M.
