TALLAHASSEE, Fla., June 2. ADDING to its six signees from the fall, Florida State has added three more recruits to the women\u2019s swimming program. Neil Harper recently announced the signing of Kylen Huntwork, Caroline Robertson and Cameron Russell.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the three girls we signed in the spring we were looking to address some areas, but also complement the class we signed in the fall,\u201d Harper said. \u201cWe knew we\u2019d have to make up for a deficit from a good senior class and between the fall and the spring we did that. It\u2019s a well-rounded class and it\u2019s really going to add some good depth to our existing roster.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huntwork, from North Carolina, is a standout in the breaststroke. At the YMCA Short Course National Championships, she took third place in the 100 breast (1:04.87) and also took bronze in the 200 breast (2:19.71). From Apex High, Huntwork will be supported in the breaststroke events by Robertson, who attended Forest High (Fla.). <\/p>\n
In the 100 breast, Robertson was a top-three finisher in each of her four years at the Class AA State Championships. She was the titlist as a freshman and sophomore and will also be asked for contributions in the 200 individual medley.<\/p>\n
Out of Maryville High in Tennessee, Russell is a versatile swimmer, but best known for her talents in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She was second in the 200 free at the state-championship competition and took third in the 500 free. Russell has also proven her worth in the sprint-free disciplines.<\/p>\n
Last season, Florida State finished fourth at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and posted 13 victories in dual-meet action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
