MIDLAND, Texas, April 11. LESS than a month after winning the platform championship during the NCAA Championships, where his Auburn Tigers won a third consecutive team title, Matt Bricker added another diving accolade to his resume.<\/p>\n
Scoring 1,071.09 points, Bricker prevailed in the platform competition over the weekend at the United States Open. Bricker finished comfortably ahead of J.J. Kinzbach, who checked in with 989.76 points. Meanwhile, Georgia\u2019s Chris Colwill was the victor on the three-meter springboard as he edged Troy Dumais, 1,016.52-1003.41.<\/p>\n
A former standout at the University of Texas, Dumais teamed with his brother Justin to claim the synchronized event on the three-meter board. The brother tandem scored 310.80 to defeat Jevon Tarantino and Phil Jones, who totaled 280.68.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s three-meter competition, Chelsea Davis (U.S. Elite Diving Academy) prevailed over Allison Brennan. Davis finished with a score of 775.92, just ahead of the 764.79 turned in by Brennan. As for the platform, top honors went to Erin Savas (COM Aquatics). Savas scored 769.32 to defeat Cassandra Cardinell of Indiana University (757.08).<\/p>\n
Savas also teamed with Ashley Beal for second in the synchronized three-meter event, which was won by the duo of Abby Johnston and Corey Gerlach of the U.S. Elite Academy. The winning score was 255.12.<\/p>\n
In the synchronized platform events, first-place finishes were claimed by Kara Cook and Whitney Wielgus of the Woodlands and Mike Guilfoil and Landon Marzullo of U.S. Elite.
