WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana, March 19. GEORGIA Bulldog Kara Lynn Joyce repeated as 100 freestyle champion after a swim of 47.50 at the NCAA Championships. The time is a new pool record. Joyce\u2019s teammate, Paige Kearns, finished the final in seventh.<\/p>\n
It was a close race at the halfway mark, as Lacey Nymeyer of Arizona was less than .30 behind. But Joyce kicked it up another notch and ran away with the race. Nymeyer, however, did hold off the rest of the field to take second place. <\/p>\n
Jana Kolukanova of Auburn finished the race in third, edging Cal\u2019s Emily Silver by .02. Jenna Gresdal of Arizona was .04 behind Silver to finish fifth, while Lacey Boutwell of Stanford was sixth. Courtney Cashion of Arizona rounded out the final heat, finishing in eighth.<\/p>\n
