WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana, March 19. TO say that the 200-yard backstroke is Kirsty Coventry\u2019s event is an understatement. After all, she is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in the event. <\/p>\n
The Auburn senior swam the second fastest race of all-time in the event, winning it for the second consecutive year in a time of 1:50.54. Her teammates Margaret Hoelzer and Jeri Moss finished the race in second and seventh place, respectively.<\/p>\n
In third was Jessica Hayes of Arizona, while fourth and fifth places were taken by Florida teammates Leah Retrum and Maureen Farrell. In sixth was Kelly Harrigan of Rutgers, while Marshi Smith of Arizona finished in eighth place.<\/p>\n
