WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana, March 18. ARIZONA came into the 200-medley relay final as the top seed, but it was Georgia that stole the spotlight. <\/p>\n
Yet again, it came down to the final leg of the race, as Texas, Georgia and Arizona were separated by mere tenths of a second. But Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce pulled out the victory after swimming the anchor leg for the Bulldogs, finishing with a time of 1:37.81. Texas came in a very close second with a 1:38.81. Arizona was third in 1:38.41.<\/p>\n
Texas took the lead after the breaststroke leg, but Mary Descenza of Georgia caught up during the butterfly leg and let Joyce do the rest. Their time in the finals was good enough to break Arizona\u2019s pool record, which was set earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
Fourth place belonged to Stanford while SEC rivals Auburn and Florida took fifth and sixth, respectively. Penn State took seventh in 1:40.47, and Southern Methodist finished in eighth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
